Thanks Michael. When someone annoys or upsets me now I try and see why I am triggered and what I could learn from it. It's not about blaming myself but rather seeing myself clearly. I feel that is our experience here, to see what we can learn, and I have gone over some of the same lessons so so many times! It really is time to move to new lessons ha ha
That is a wonderful approach to take, April. I’d like to say I do the same, but I’d be lying if I said that was my initial reaction — but it does happen (sometimes) in reflection.
Your approach actually reminds me of another quote, I’m pretty sure this was Jung (and I’m paraphrasing again):
Everything that bothers us about other people is really a reflection of something we are bothered by in ourselves.
Well damn it, of course Jung got there before me ha ha. It's taken me ages to get it, I should have just read more books early on! I was just about to get a t-shirt made up for myself saying "I'm fully enlightened - Ask me How". I won't bother now.
PS. It's not my INITIAL reaction Michael..... it's after I've been an idiot in some way that I reflect.... full disclosure!
Hahaha yes, I think Jung beat most people to most things. But I think it’s really wonderful you came to that realisation on your own, somehow, I feel like that’s better than just reading it.
Now THAT would be a good phrase for a t-shirt — “it’s after I’ve been an idiot that I reflect”
Great poem, a rhyming journey to herself.
Thank you so much - great comment!!
Great poem, April. I like how you turned the issues with your friends around to identify them in yourself — very wise indeed.
Also I loved the two lines below:
“And talked fully out my ass” — hilarious.
“Life happens for me, not to me”
