lol! loved it. what a fantastic and delightfully true look at that old saw. the closing image of the puddle had me laughing; and oddly supplied me with the image of drowned worms.
and there is another aspect to that phrase 'still waters run deep.' a possible alternative meaning is that the surface only has the appearance of calmness and that underneath runs the rip-tides that pull us into the undertow and drown us.
Thank you Guy ❤ I was intrigued as I was writing the poem to see that the saying used to mean that indeed! We have somehow forgotten the warning haven't we and now take it to mean that somehow a person is deep in a spiritual way. Fascinating stuff eh!
and really hints at one of the great 'challenges' of language! how is it we are even to communicate anything when it is so alive and shifting. it points to one of the most fascinating philosophically fascinating splits between the so-called 'east' and 'west'. to solve that problem the west writes tomes - such as 'being and time'; and in the east, koans and haiku, to suggest that the meaning of words lies in their ability to create an experience in the body outside of the mind.
I have always been so verbose and I wonder if we have an allotted amount of words we can spew in our lifetimes! Now I feel a poem or haiku may suffice. People will take the meaning that they want anyway 😂
Hi ... about drowned worms ....Once I saved hundreds of worms from a small pond .... with a long stick ( I feard to enter the water , because of hes muddy consistence ) I was a little bit in panic , I was afraid they all would die , if I wasen't quick enough ....I was busy for about 2 hours . But just 2 years later I realised ( following a Documentary in TV ) that worms are breathing through there skin . And that is possible for them to remain a considerable amount of time under water !! ( but not forever !!😊)
Ha ha, I love your comment and I imagine you lying at the edge of a muddy pond rescuing worms that were probably thinking "What the hell is this person doing?? How do we get back to the pond!"
They were 'thinking' we're lost . We gonna die . A few ones were already dead . White and pale . I checked it . // They were trapped . Hundrets in a range of 2 to 3 SquareMeters . Lucky enough a had plenty of time . At that particulary moment . Lucky for them , and lucky for me . 🍀✨

exacto! life really does have a wicked sense of humour, and we mere humans strut around full of the smell of our own bullshit language. amazing stuff.

"I thought narcissists talked a lot
about themselves
I was sure they never made
cups of tea for someone else"
haha you nailed that!
Thank you Rikki. I appreciate this 🙏❤
